Local Government

There is no better way to effect change on the local level than to contact your supervisor and/or council member, attend meetings, and engage your community.

Please see the links below to find your county Board of Supervisors and City Council members for Napa, Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino. Continue to the bottom of the page for more information about your local leadership and as always, please let us know if you have questions.

More about your Local Government

Common issues addressed at the local level are often related to planning, zoning, and health & human services (including mental health). Local elected representatives are accessible and make decisions based upon the concerns and opinions of their constituents.

Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body that oversees the operation of county government.

City Council

Members of your local city council act as the legislative branch of the city government, as well as its policy-making body. The council also looks to the city’s goals, major projects and infrastructure improvements ranging from community growth to land use to finances and strategic planning.
