Art Responds: The Wine Country Fires is an art exhibition, film event, and series of public gatherings for the one-year anniversary of the 2017 North Bay Wildfires. Quintana, Kristi Rene and Laura Resen.Curated by Rina Faletti, PhD. An opening reception will be held Wednesday, October 10, 6-8pm.

Fire, climate and environment have always been topical, social and political issues in California, but with last year’s wildfires these environmental issues exploded in personal importance. These images from the Wine Country Fires speak with an intense and touching beauty to locals and all Northern Californians, as we see more frequent fires consume California land and property, and affect more lives.

Works will be on view October 10 – December 15, 2018. Public programs will include the world premiere of the film “California on Fire” by photographer Jeff Frost and the documentary, “Wilder Than Wild: Fire, Forests and the Future,” by Stephen Most and Kevin White on Sunday, October 21 at the Napa Valley Opera House, at 4pm.

Arts Responds: The Wine Country Fires is funded in part by the ACNV Community Fund and the Hewlett Foundation Fire Recovery Grant. Venue sponsors: First Street Napa. Film Screening partners: Napa Valley Opera House and Blue Note Napa.
